I decided to go with Ubik as my first try of Philip.K.Dick's novels. The producer of the film adaptation of A Scanner Darkly had optioned Ubik in the early 2000s, Michel Gondry was in the beginning stages of developing a movie in 2011, and in 2018 yet another screenplay was being developed with a new writer and producers. I went into this book with manageable expectations as I generally fare poorly with the classics of any genre and at nearly 50 years old I think we can rate Ubik as a classic nowadays! Ubik does appear destined though to make it to the screen in some way or another. At one point, Michel Gondry (director of Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind) was trying to turn Philip K. Dick's wild novel about paranoia and virtual reality into a film.But the film proved too bewildering and confusing to even begin unraveling into a film.
