Susanna was rehabilitated while the two old men were sentenced to death. She is the wife of the wealthy and respected Joakim, at whose Babylonian house elders gather daily to judge the peoples cases. Of these, two wicked elders lust after Susanna and conspire to rape her.

Robusti, also known as Tintoretto or Il Furioso, for the energy and "fury" with which he painted, depicted both sacred and profane subjects in a period known as the Venetian “golden century”. Susanna is the subject of paintings by many artists, including (but not limited to) Lorenzo Lotto ( Susanna and the Elders , 1517), Guido Reni , Rubens , Van Dyck ( Susanna and the Elders ), Tintoretto , Rembrandt , Tiepolo , and Artemisia Gentileschi . It’s the story of a woman, unfairly accused of cheating on her husband with another man by two powerful and dishonest elderly judges.According to the Old Testament, Susanna was about to be sentenced to death for adultery when Daniel, a young man inspired by God, suddenly defend her by revealing the truth: the two judges were liars that had molested and blackmailed the innocent woman.
